2012 Spring Dance Service Project
Spring Dance Service Project
This year’s service project will be helping two units of soldiers. Please drop your donations at Eden Prairie High School on Apr 27th.
- The 651st EAES evacuation unit
- They prepare wounded, injured and sick patients for evacuation to Germany hospitals.
- CRITICALLY NEEDED ITEMS FOR PATIENTS:
- Athletic shoes of all sizes (this request is for inexpensive, or even “very gently used and clean” men’s athletic shoes for the walking wounded. “so these men can walk proudly to the evacuation planes on
their own, and not need to be carried on stretchers” Men’s shoes only, sizes 9 – 12 THIS IS A HUGE NEED!! - Sweat pants for wounded soldiers (sizes Medium, large, XL only – suggest black, blue and gray colors)
- Hooded zipper sweatshirts for wounded soldiers (sizes Medium, large, XL only – suggest black, blue and gray
colors) - The zipper-front shirts work best, since many injured guys can’t manage a pull-over sweatshirt due to arm, shoulder, neck or back injuries.
- Athletic shoes of all sizes (this request is for inexpensive, or even “very gently used and clean” men’s athletic shoes for the walking wounded. “so these men can walk proudly to the evacuation planes on
- Deployed until late 2012
- 150 men in remote base with no PX or amenities
- This unit is extremely hurting on hygiene items, especially baby wipes. They only have 2 working showers for the entire company. Baby wipes would be amazing. The senior medic for the company says it’s becoming increasingly difficult to get these items.
Anything sent would be greatly appreciated but those are probably their biggest needs. If every girl brought just one item it would help so much.
Swim-A-Thon Fundraiser
Hey Everyone! (Please take two seconds to read this!)
I am hosting a Swim-A-Thon on Saturday, March 24th at the Oak Point Intermediate School Facility from 3:00am-5:00pm because I am supporting a group called the Clownfish Swim Club.
Clownfish Swim Club is a nonprofit organization that meets at the Aquajets Center here in Eden Prairie. This organization is run by volunteers, and Clownfish provides a safe environment for disabled children to learn how to swim or practice their swim skills. (Some of these kids have life threatening illnesses.) I volunteer there every Saturday and these kids are so motivating and inspiring that I decided to support them by raising money for there organization for needed swim equipment. The money will go to the club so that they can purchase things they need for when they meet. (Swimsuits, kick boards, goggles, towels etc.)
This is one of few places that these kids can come and just be themselves without feeling different, and I want to make sure it stays that way! This group of kids means so much to me and that is why I chose to help this organization for my Girl Scout Gold Award. This Gold Award required that I reach out to my community, and I thought that this would be a great way to do it!
I would be thrilled if you could come on the 24th to swim, and if possible donate money for such a great cause! The suggested donation amount for students is $5 and $10 for adults. FOR EVERY 2 DOLLARS YOU DONATE I WILL SWIM A LAP. (There IS some motivation, but depending on your generosity it may not be all in one day.) So if you donate $10, I have to swim 5 laps…
There will be lifeguards on duty, but anyone under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult! If you can’t swim, don’t want to swim, or cannot attend on Saturday, it would be amazing if you could still donate too these kids!
The deadline to donate will be March 25th. (Checks can be made payable to Clownfish Swim Club.)
RSVP asap if you can or can’t be there! You do NOT have to stay for the whole time and just seeing you on the pool deck for a picture in a swimsuit would be perfect!

Volunteers needed for Eden Lake Carnival – Nov 4th
Hello, my name is Stacey Ladegaard and I’m working as the volunteer coordinator for Eden Lake Elementary’s annual school carnival. I was wondering if any of the 6th grade and up Girl Scouts would be interested in volunteering. We need a lot of volunteers to have the venues to run smoothly.
The carnival will be held Friday, November 4th from 5:30 -8:30. We have a volunteer sign up posted on Sign Up Genius. Please feel free to check it out http://www.signupgenius.com/go/eden1 . SUG is a great way to see the various venues and time slots available. We have had the great opportunity to work with the Girl Scouts in the past and hope we get the chance to work with the Girl Scouts again this year. Please contact me if your troop is interested.
Thank you,
Stacey Ladegaard
